BOOMER SOONER!

It's OU-Texas weekend, and we all know what that means.

Another Pimpslapping for the Longhorns.

Yes, I know it hasn't been the greatest year so far for the Sooners, but mark my words... none of that matters when it comes to OU-Texas or OU-OSU.

So fire up the charcoal and get out the BBQ sauce.

It's Bevo for lunch.

TRIVIA QUESTION: How did BEVO (The longhorn mascot cow) get his name?

Hmm-mm. Too bad I didn’t get around to checking blogs earlier today. I could have told you how wrong you were and why; very unusual for you, but wrong, nevertheless. UT is hot this year. They still aren’t up to potential, but improving weekly. They are playing sloppily, but winning. OU however is hurting. More ways than one. They are also playing sloppy, but loosing. Don’t say next year. Too many of the good UT players will be back. You will have to wait two years to stand another chance.

Keep blogging. You give me lots of good laughs.

DS Rob - Sorry that the "pimpslapping" went the other way, but hey, OU was pretty due for that loss, now if the Aggies can do that too, I'll be over joyed.

Second - Bevo was given that name quite a long time ago when he was branded "13-0" and they simply altered that brand to read "BEVO" adn thus the name was born.

Do I get anything for that, or will you just tell someone that you're "speaking at them loud enough for everyone to hear" because the Sooners were just "not soon enough" this weekend?

It was a tough Saturday. I'm in Okc and watched most of the "game".
We've had the last five and the UT coach was about to lose his job. Maybe we don't pay Stoops enough! 2 mil. a year. There is none better. May just need a new offensive coodinator. AD only played three downs. We'll be Back.

The University of Texas has used the Longhorn as its official mascot since the early 1900’s, but it was UT’s most fierce rival, Texas A&M, who was inadvertently responsible for providing the name for the famous Texas mascot. In 1916, following a 13-0 victory over the Longhorns, a group of Aggie students branded their rival mascot with the final score. In an effort to make good from bad, the UT keepers of the Longhorn mascot modified the branded tattoo. They closed the ‘1’ and the ‘3’ to form the letter ‘B’, then made the ‘-‘ (dash) into an ‘E’ and squeezed a ‘V’ in between the ‘E’ and the zero, which was then construed to be the letter ‘O’. Thus, the name “BEVO” was created. The Longhorn has long since been known for its toughness and strength, and gained its reputation as the only breed of cattle tough enough to survive the gruesome 1,000 mile Chisholm Trail, which was used by cattlemen to take their cattle to the markets during the westward expansion and prior to the advent of America’s railroad system.
